. art auction for charity .

Here is another something we are excited about!

This March, Kevin Mangan (my boyfriend) and Adam Clift, are doing the Rickshaw Run;
racing an auto rickshaw over 1800 miles of South East Asia.
It's organized by a group called The Adventurists, and - the best part - it's all for charity.

This is basically like a marathon charity pledge,
but on a rickshaw through jungle, island and ocean for 1800 miles! It's pretty wild!!

For more detailed info check Jakarta or Bust site.
This site is exclusively about Kevin and Adam's team and their adventure,
and will be frequently updated before/during/after the trip.

check out their facebook page and twitter too!

All proceeds will be donated to Birdlife International and Action Against Hunger.
Your help would be greatly appreciated. Please donate if you can.

Along with regular donations we are putting together an art auction!
50% will go to charity, and 50% to their modest budget (airfare, insurance, deposits, visas, gear, etc.)
Until their budget is met, then the rest will go to charity.

The auction will begin Feb 18th. this Saturday.
will announce the link then.
Click HERE for a little more info.
I will have 3 drawings available, along with other artist's originals and prints.
these will be framed in a floating style. will post those photos this weekend.

this is the first time working on vellum and in two layers.
i had so much fun with these, and hope to explore more like this.

detailed photos after the jump.

  1. These are SO lovely! I am really liking the mix of the soft shading on the bottom layer with the very clean graphical lines on top. Stunning craftsmanship and artistry as always!

  2. they look beautiful!
oh and what an interesting race. I bet they'll definitely have a lot of stories and fun experience on the rickshaw. I know how fussy a rickshaw can be.

I can't wait to see how the race goes. Good luck to your boyfriend ^^ South east asian jungle is divine.

yes! its going to be insane and reeeeally physically/mentally challenging.
but completely life changing rewarding in the end!
i envy them for being able to set out for this crazy adventure.

  3. 1800 miles?! What an exciting undertaking that is! Do they have an estimate for how long it should taken them? And is there a budget number in mind that needs to be met by a certain date?

P.S. Lovely work, as always. Particularly fond of the serene green-tinted beauty :)

    1. it will take about 2 miles to complete.

they need to raise at least $2000 for charity.
and their budget wil be tight and be another few thousand.

for more details you can ask on their site / facebook / twitter , which i linked above.

  11. Hi Audrey!

Your new blog is great! I'm so glad that there are a comment section for everyone to write as I had quite the struggle to comment on Live Journal. I'm looking forward to reading your posts here. =)

The double layers adds a really nice touch to your art. Fresh and new, yet recognizable. I can't wait to see bigger and more complex versions!

    Have a wonderful day!

  15. Love the new work & blog.

Also I was curious, I've tried cutting vellum with an exacto-knife before and had a difficult time with it, any tips or type of vellum you recommend?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i think theres different types and thickness to vellum.
the one i used was pretty thin. so exacto knife was fine.

  17. It gives them a sort of haunted feeling - almost as if the girls are memories...

  18. The girls she draws definitely remind me of the character Chihiro in Hayao Miyazaki's 'Spirited Away'. Fantastical, mystical and sensual. Now there's a collaboration!
